Noisy Crane Tea House

Sit-down Asian tea house inside The Paper Seahorse on South Howard (33606): oolongs, gong fu puer, and ceremonial matcha. Thu and Fri walk-ins, weekends 10 to 3 with reservations recommended.

Noisy Crane Tea House is a sit-down Asian tea house inside The Paper Seahorse at 213 S Howard Ave in SoHo (33606). Founder KC Cavanaugh, who has been steeping herself in tea for more than a decade and proudly answers to tea nerd, works with small importers to hand-pick loose-leaf teas from China and Japan: oolongs, rare puer brewed gong fu style, and ceremonial matcha. There is also a tea and teaware shop.

This is a slow, sit-down tea experience. Phones are discouraged, laptops are not permitted, and there are no to-go cups, milk, sugar, or lattes. Seating is low tables in the Tea Room or high backless stools at the Tea Bar.

Hours: Thursday and Friday 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (walk-ins only, no reservations). Saturday and Sunday 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with weekend reservations recommended (the booking page requires one, with a $10 deposit taken off your bill and 90-minute seatings), so book ahead for weekends. Noisy Crane also runs tea classes, tastings, and matcha workshops, and books private events. Phone (727) 266-2681. Email noisycranetea@gmail.com.
