Belle's Pizza Kitchen: Neapolitan pies and ice cream in Port Tampa City

Down at the southern tip of the peninsula, Belle's Pizza Kitchen is the kind of neighborhood spot that makes the drive to Port Tampa City worth it. The independent pizzeria at 8612 Interbay Blvd (33616) makes Neapolitan-style pies from scratch in a cozy room with bohemian, vintage charm: pink cabinetry, string lights, and checkered tablecloths.

What to order. The dough is hand stretched from Tipo 00 flour and the house sauce is made with San Marzano tomatoes. Go classic with the Margherita, or try a house pie: Grandpa Scott's Hot Pepperoni (pepperoni, cheddar, and hot honey), The Godmother (mushroom, ricotta, rosemary, garlic, and chili), or the Cuban Pizza with mojo pork, ham, salami, pickle, and Swiss. Pickle fans have their own pie. Wash it down with a fresh-squeezed lemonade (the Strawberry Stinger adds a little cayenne) and finish with a scoop of Yoder's Southern Creamery ice cream.
