An Eerie Evening at the Tampa Bay Hotel

Victorian Halloween after dark at the Plant Museum, Thursday to Saturday, 6 to 9 PM. An undertaker's welcome, a clue hunt and jewelry made from human hair. Ages 14 and up.

The Henry B. Plant Museum opens the moonlit halls of the old Tampa Bay Hotel for Victorian Halloween. The spirit of a local undertaker greets you, the late 19th century film Dracula plays, and you work room to room for hidden clues to solve a mystery. Macabre pieces from the museum's collection and Ybor's Dysfunctional Grace are scattered through the building.

Don't skip the Cabinet of Curiosities: mourning jewelry and wreaths made from human hair. This year also opens the suite that served as the office of Dr. G.H. Altree, who helped establish the Centro Asturiano Sanitarium, back when tuberculosis and influenza ruled the city.

Thursday, Oct 29 to Saturday, Oct 31, 6 to 9 PM, 401 W Kennedy Blvd. Tickets $25 per person ($20 for museum members, who get the discount by contacting the museum). Ages 14 and up. Questions: 813.254.1891. Want more? The museum suggests pairing it with a haunted carriage tour of Plant Park (collinscattleandgrove.com, booked separately).
